Obituary For Demetra Tsoukalas

Peabody - Demetra Tsoukalas, age 85, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Demetra spent her early childhood years in Piraeus, Greece, before coming to the United States with her parents and two brothers. She quickly adapted to her new life in Lowell, MA, and excelled in school. As a young vibrant lady, she met a charismatic man named Alex at a Greek dance one night, and he soon became her husband. Together they decided to reside in the town of Marblehead, where they operated a successful family-owned painting and carpentry business, while also raising their three children.

Demetra was a fantastic cook and baker, enjoyed her local knitting club, volunteering at her church, reading a good mystery novel, and doting on her six grandchildren. She and her husband explored the U.S. together and were best friends for more than 6o years, until Alex passed in July of 2021. Demetra now leaves her loving family and lifelong friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: A private ceremony will be held by her family at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. If you wish, donations can be made in her honor to the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
