Diana Marie Mendonca, 62, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Beverly after a long battle with a chronic illness. She was the beloved wife of Joe E. Mendonca with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.

She was born on January 6, 1962 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and was the cherished daughter of the late Eutimio and Elza (Ortins) Bettencourt.

Diana worked for many decades for the Department of Employment and Training in Massachusetts, helping people receive benefits during their most difficult times. She enjoyed traveling on cruises and many other locations including Florida, Maine, California, and Cape Cod with friends and family. She regularly traveled in the summer with her family to visit her home in Graciosa, Azores. When she was not traveling, she greatly cherished visiting with her grandchildren and getting updates on their various activities.

In addition to her husband, Joe, Diana is survived by her son, Brendin J. Mendonca of Peabody; her daughter, Elza Silva and her husband Brian of Brentwood, NH; her 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Ethan, and Abigail Silva all of Brentwood, NH; her brother, Richard Bettencourt and his wife Diane Hernandez of CA; and many loving Brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sadly, in addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her daughter Emily Rose Mendonca.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately at a later date.
