Obituary For Domingos L Furtado

Domingos Furtado, a father, avo, partner and friend, of indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication, passed away December 14th 2023 at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.

Born in Faial, Azores, Domingos, alongside his wife and three daughters, embarked on a courageous journey to America in pursuit of the fabled American Dream. His unyielding work ethic and entrepreneurial fervor were evident from the outset. There seemed to be no challenge he couldn't conquer, nor any skill he couldn't master. His zest for both learning and imparting knowledge was boundless.

Domingos forged a lasting imprint within the community through his business acumen and unrelenting commitment. He meticulously built a Plumbing, Heating, and Hardware business, which became a cornerstone of the Peabody community, earning widespread respect. His expertise as a master plumber and his role as the plumbing inspector in Marblehead showcased his proficiency and dedication to his craft.

His profound love for his Portuguese heritage was evident in his tireless support of various community organizations, notably serving on the board of the Luso American Credit Union. Domingos was renowned for extending a helping hand, offering guidance, and uplifting those in need without hesitation.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Domingos harbored a deep passion for the ocean and boating, relishing memorable moments spent with his cherished family. His love for the sea was an integral part of his life and a source of joy that he generously shared with those closest to him.

However, amidst his numerous achievements, Domingos' greatest source of joy and pride was his family. His love for his family knew no bounds, as he selflessly placed their happiness above all else. In his final moments, surrounded by his beloved family, he expressed his profound contentment, declaring that their presence brought him immeasurable joy: "You are my happiness."

The void left by his passing is immeasurable, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, compassion, and generosity that will endure for generations to come.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held where family and friends will gather to honor his legacy and bid farewell to a remarkable individual who touched countless lives with his kindness and generosity.
