Obituary For Dorothy L O'Malley

Dorothy L (Holt) O’Malley, 85, of Peabody, died Saturday evening surrounded by her loving family at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John E. O’Malley.

Born in Harrison, Maine, she was the daughter of the late William B and Arlene (Harmon) Holt. She was raised and educated in Maine and was a graduate of Deering High School, Portland, ME, class of 1955. She has lived in Peabody for the past 54 years.

She loved her home state of Maine and was a longtime summer resident at her home in Harrison, Maine. She loved animals and spending time with family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for her “pranks” on family and friends and was a longtime member of the West Church in Peabody. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn Ann Kingsbury of Lynnfield, and Shauna Marie O’Malley of Peabody, her brother William Holt and his wife Cathy of Westbrook, ME, her sisters, Donna Hodges of Stoughton and Kaye Jeanne Holt and her husband Craig Reiche of Norton, her beloved grandchildren, Jeni Clark of Lewiston, ME, Nancy DeLeonardo and her husband Kirk of Virginia, and Laura Demidow of AZ, her great grandchildren, Caleb Demidow, Jacob Zacharias, Jenna Gurules, and Alexander Clark. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Lynn Demidow.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 20, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody.

Following cremation, A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday June 4 at 11:00 AM at the West Church, 27 Johnson St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Harvest Hills Animal Shelter in Fryeburg, Maine.

    So sorry to hear about Dot. Having known her through Jack for the last 50 years I just read about it. I'm sorry dad I missed the wake. Rest In Peace Dorothy and Jack.

    Condolences to all of Dorothy's family and friends. She was such a nice person who always had a smile and welcoming manner. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. May her memories help the family get through this difficult time.
