Obituary For Eleanor E Costello

Eleanor E. (Paquette) Costello, 95 of Peabody, peacefully passed at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Peabody’s Chief of Police, Robert J. Costello.

Born and raised in Salem, MA- She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Jodoin) Paquette. Eleanor graduated from Salem High School and then was a lifelong resident of Peabody where she raised her family.

Eleanor often reminisced of her years as a telephone operator with her friends, employed by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. and Weight Watchers of Salem.

Eleanor enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Women’s League at Metro Bowl in Peabody. She had a love of life and enjoyed activities with her family like ice skating, skiing, golfing and annual Halloween and 4th of July parties.

Eleanor was the loving and devoted mother of Gail Murdoch and husband Kevin, Joyce Nocella and husband Thomas, Robert J. Costello and Carol Rogers and husband Donald. Devoted Grandmother of Matthew Murdoch and wife Melissa, Caitlin Murdoch, Luke Murdoch and wife Nicole, Robert Nocella and wife Kathrine, Jamie Andino and husband Kelby, and Jessie Eleanor Nocella. The Great Grandmother (G.G.) of Layla and Ellarose Murdoch, Jack and Teigan Murdoch and Ophelia and Winter Andino and her many loving and caring nieces and nephews who spent many memorable times with her.

She was predeceased by her brothers Lucien, Raymond and Henry Paquette and her sisters Teresa Raby and Cecile Peluso. Also, by her faithful and lifelong friends Dorothy “Dottie” Moriarty and Winifred “Winnie” Condon who referred to Eleanor as “Parky”.

Eleanor always saw the best in people and will be remembered by all those she met and forever in our hearts.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
