Evangeline "Van" Argeros Leondires, age 87, gracefully bid farewell to this world on September 16, 2023, in Danvers, MA. Born on October 22, 1935, in Boston. Van was filled with love and laughter, she had a knack for brightening up any room with her infectious joy and sharp wit. Van, a true gem, had a big heart and would go above and beyond to help her family and friends navigate the ups and downs of life.

Survived by her beloved sons, John Leondires, and her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Deborah Leondires, her son and son-in-law Mark Leondires and Greg Zola and son and daughter-in-law George and Lisa Leondires. Van's love knew no bounds. Van was the proud and doting grandmother, Yia-yia to Peter, Christopher, Jeremy, Jocelyn, Luke, and Owen. She was the cherished Auntie Tootsie to her many nieces and nephews.

Van's journey was preceded by her parents, Arthur Argeros and Antigone Tsouvalas from Karlovasi Samos, Greece, her one and only beloved husband, Peter Leondires, her cherished older brothers, Michael Argeros, James Argeros, and her dear sister Mary Argeros.

Van flourished in her career at raising 4 boys and launching them into their adulthood. She worked at the Peabody Auto Auction and Travelers Insurance, but her true harmony was found as a cherished member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church and especially the church choir. She knew how to hit all the right notes, both in song and in life.

Van (Tootsie), delighted in her hobbies, which included singing (of course!), cooking up a storm, whipping up Greek delicacies and desserts, and combing the shores for seashells. Van and Peter went to Naples every year and after his passing she and her sister Mary were partners in spreading mischief and joy. Socializing was her secret ingredient, and Van had a talent for turning any gathering into a joyous celebration as she had that special gift to make everybody feel comfortable, heard, and loved.

Family and friends will honor Evangeline’s life by gathering in Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 4PM to 7PM and again at 8:30AM Friday morning before leaving in procession to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Lynn for her Funeral Service at 10AM. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.

In lieu of flowers, Van would have appreciated contributions to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church Choir Fund, where her spirit will continue to sing. Donations can be sent to 54 S. Common St., Lynn, MA.
