Obituary For George H. Lentz

George H. Lentz, 78, of Andover, died peacefully on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Bear Mt. nursing center, Andover with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 57 years to Carole (Pavenski) Lentz. He was born in Lynn, MA on March 4, 1943, the son of the late George H. and Catherine (Stevens) (Lentz) O’Shea and was raised in Peabody before moving to Andover. He was a graduate of Northeastern University and postgraduate of M.I.T. of Cambridge. He had been an electrical engineer, first with Bell Labs and later with Western Electric Company, Andover for 30 years prior to his retirement. George enjoyed going fishing in the North Shore waters and Salem Harbor and also liked to go hunting in Michigan. He played golf at the Trull Brook Golf Club and enjoyed taking trips to Aruba, but his most precious time was spent with his family, going to his daughter’s basketball games at Merrimack College and watching his grandchildren grow to maturity. He is survived by his wife, Carole of Andover, his daughter Tricia Lentz of Peabody, a son, George H. Lentz Jr. of East Northport, L.I. New York, a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Richard Bergeron of Salem, MA, his two grandchildren, Jack Lentz and Mackenzie Lentz of New York, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Louise Strabone. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral Service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited, and face coverings are required at both services. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.     We remember George as a caring mentor, enthusiastic coach, passionate champion, and most of all a faithful friend. He sought after and brought forth the potential in everyone and treated all like family. He has and will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
