Obituary For Gerald Thomas Ricciardi
Of Hyannis and formerly of Peabody, Gerald Thomas Ricciardi passed peacefully with his daughter by his side on December 6th. He was predeceased by his much loved wife and best friend, Florence (Nicholls) Ricciardi with whom he shared 40 wonderful years. Jerry, as he was called by all who knew him, was born in Boston on April 26, 1927. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Gennaro and Louise (Buccelli) Ricciardi.
He is survived by his much loved daughter, Linda Ricciardi Moran and her husband, Commander John F. Moran III, USN, Retired of Annapolis, Maryland. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter Tess Ricciardi Moran, DDS of Annapolis, and Los Angeles.
After Jerry was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Navy, he became a printer’s apprentice at Rapid Service Printing in Boston. Soon after their marriage Florence convinced him to go to college. She recognized Jerry’s exceptional academic achievements throughout his schooling, especially his honors grades at Boston English High School. He went to Northeastern University for eleven years nights while working two jobs to support his family. He graduated with high honors when awarded Associate and Bachelor degrees in Electrical Engineering and an MBA. He further distinguished himself by being awarded a Gold Key from the honor society Sigma Epsilon Rho. The Key is now worn by his adored granddaughter, Tess Moran, DDS.
Jerry started his own company, Production Devices, more than 50 years ago. Until the day he fell down the escalator at Boston’s South Station, six years ago, he was still running his successful company. In addition to business, Jerry was an avid and accomplished golfer which allowed him the camaraderie of his friends and neighbors. He was also an excellent carpenter like his father.
Jerry’s family would like to thank Hospice of the Chesapeake for their kind and loving care. Although flowers are always enjoyed, please know that a small donation in his name can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122 or to “Love Your Brain” PO Box 247, Norwich, VT 05055. Please feel free to research these two wonderful foundations.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 9:30 to 10:40 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM.
