Obituary For Jocelyn T. Keating

Jocelyn (Luz) Keating passed away peacefully on April 16, 2021. A lifelong resident of Peabody, Jocelyn was born on September 13, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Adeline Luz. After graduating from Peabody High in 1947, she attended Burdett College. She married Paul Keating in 1952 and began her first career raising her four daughters. She was active in her daughters’ activities and schools as well as the St. Johns Parrish and the Leo Guild Women’s Charitable Club of Peabody. At the age of 48, Jocelyn returned to school and at 50 began her second career as a RN. Jocelyn worked at Lynn ad Union Hospital; and then moved to Florida focusing her efforts on geriatric nursing. While there, she so enjoyed reading in her lanai, walking the beaches, and even learned to golf. She later returned to Massachusetts to help her daughters raise their children. Jocelyn was a loving grandmother, who gave all her time to her grandchildren. In 2017, Jocelyn fell ill with pneumonia and moved into Sutton Hill Nursing Home, near her daughters. She was blessed to have many friends and family visit her often. She even survived covid in 2020. She will long be remembered for her compassion, caring for the elderly and her love for her family. She is survived by her daughters and their partners; Paula Keating & Cathy Coughlin of North Andover, Pamela & Richard Childs of Seminole, Florida, and Kandace & Joseph Kukas of North Andover She is also survived by her grandchildren Tyler & Connor Cash, Jordyn Keating-Kodys and Christian & Caroline Kukas. She was pre-deceased by her daughter and son-in-law Tricia and Harry Cash. Jocelyn is survived by her ex-husband and his wife, Paul and Allison Keating. She is also survived by her sister, Jeanne Murphy and was pre-deceased by her brother, Herbert Luz. Finally, Jocelyn is survived by her nieces Stephanie Luz Abrams & Kathleen Luz and her nephews Mark Luz and David Murphy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 23 from 9 -11A.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11A.M. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.

    Sending condolences and love to Jeanne, Paula, Pam, Kandy and the grandchildren, nieces and nephews. My best memories of Joy are the summer I spent on the cape with the Keatings! She was beautiful, classy, and a joy!
