John J. Daley, Sr, 93, of Beverly and formerly of Peabody, died early Friday morning at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann Patricia (Walsh) Daley.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late John P. and Margaret (McPherson) Daley. He was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1949. He later lived in Peabody before moving back to Beverly in 1975 where he has lived for the past 49 years.

John was a veteran of the Korean War, who enlisted with the United States Marine Corp in 1952. He served for three years before he was honorably discharged in 1955.

John was a carpenter by trade and had worked independently for many years before working at Beverly Hospital for 10 years before retiring in 1996.

John is survived by his children, John J. Daley, Jr and his wife Unhui of Beverly, Judy and her husband William Klemczuk of Peabody, James and his wife Wendy Daley and Jeffrey and his wife Michelle Daley, all of Beverly, his sisters-in-law, Joyce Eastman of Haverhill and Judy Walsh of Peabody, his beloved 15 grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Brian Akeley of Beverly, Jason Daley of Beverly, James and Shawna Daley of Georgia, Jared and Katie Daley of Somerville, Jeremy and Jennifer Daley of Beverly, William Klemczuk and Erin Klemczuk, both of Peabody, Sarah Daley of New Hampshire, and Jeffrey, Joshua, and Kourtney Daley, Christopher, Adam, and Tyler Hutchings of Beverly, his great grandchildren, Nora and Eila Daley of Georgia, Olivia, Abigail, and Aubree Akeley of Beverly, Jameson and Jonas Daley of Beverly, and Anthony, Jake, and Jaxyn Damon of Utah and many nieces and nephews. Besides his loving wife, John was predeceased by his grandson Scott Damon, his sister M. Louise Reilly and nephew Mark Glenn.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
