Obituary For Kathleen A Hagan

Kathleen A Hagan, 96, of Peabody and formerly of Salem and Beverly, died Friday afternoon surrounded by her family at her home following a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Peter J and Margaret A (Dragon) Hagan.

Kathleen was employed with New England Telephone as a supervisor for over 32 years before retiring in 1979.

Kathleen was an extraordinary aunt with a deep love of her family and many friends. She was very involved with all her nieces and nephews and was always there when she was needed for any situation or accomplishments. She was kindhearted and would help anyone who needed her. She loved to have fun and enjoyed listening to classical music and Dixieland bands. She was also a great animal rights activist and supported many animal charitable organizations including her nephew John’s “Five Alarm Animal Rescue.” She was also a big supporter of Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army and many organizations involving children. Kathleen “lived her faith” and was extremely generous in all respects and compassionate to all. Her life was her family and she cherished them all. She was an incredible person.

Kathleen is survived by her seven nieces and nephews, Keith Spofford, Jr of Peabody, Kathleen J. Worth of Salem, Diane L. O’Connor of Peabody, Joanne M. Akre of Peabody, John P. Spofford of Epping, NH, Peter J Hagan IV of Urbandale, IA, and Kerry Hagan of Kingston, NH and is also survived by many grand and great nieces and nephews, and by Barbara Hagan of Hamilton. She was predeceased by her brother Peter James Hagan, III and her sister Barbara J. Spofford.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.

Kathleen was my supervisor back in the early 1970's and I must say she was one of my favorite people to work for. I too retired from the phone co. years later. She was kind, fair and a pleasure to work for. She truly cared about the people that worked for her, even back then she spoke about her nephews and nieces often. I am happy she lived a fulling happy life she was a wonderful person. Kathy Benoit

It was so great I got to see her before she passed. Dawson was greeted with a big smile and she was happy to pet him and was happy to have him close to her. She so loved dogs. A wonderful lady who will be missed by all. God bless her. Ed Miller and Dawson
