Obituary For Kostas (Charles) G Mastoras

On Friday, December 29, 2023, Kosta (Charles) Mastoras passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Charlie was the beloved spouse of the late Maria (Dagas) Mastoras. With whom he shared a lifetime of love. Born on March 3rd, 1935, in Panajia, Greece. Charlie immigrated to the United States in 1969 with his wife and their seven-year-old son, George, with hopes of providing his family with a better life.

Charlie employed his strong work ethic to support his family and give them greater opportunities to succeed in the new land. Some of his friends may know Charlie from his earlier employment at Tanrite Leather in Peabody, where he worked for 30 years. He would work more than one job to provide. He worked at Straus Leather and Capitan’s Pizza in Swampscott. Throughout his retired years, he continued to work alongside his son George at Seaside in Nahant.

Charlie possessed a resilient demeanor, pushing through all the challenges life threw at him. Charlie carried a witless humor, frequently cracking jokes that made those around him laugh and smile. Charlie drew everyone together with delicious Greek feasts that came fresh from his beautiful backyard garden. He was always sure to ensure everyone had a full stomach and content heart before they left his home. Charlie spent precious moments with his family, making the most out of the simplest times. Whether it would be spending quality time with his adored granddaughter, Ellie, or accompanying his late wife every step of the way through her battle with Alzheimer's, he always put his family first. Often displaying his bright smile, it was obvious how proud he was of his children and granddaughter. His dreams had come true.

He is survived by his late wife, Maria; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Ana Mastoras of Nahant; a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Kenny Michaud and his granddaughter, Ellie Michaud, all of St. Augustine, FL; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Eva Dagas of Peabody, a niece, Joanne Dagas Ortins and her husband Anthony Ortins of Bradford, MA and two nephews, George Dagas of Lynnfield and Michael Dagas of Peabody, and a sister Maria of Sydney, Australia. Along with great nieces and nephews from the United States, Greece, and Australia

Visiting hours will be on Friday January 5, 2024, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St, Peabody, followed by his Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org/MANH

When our daughter Olivia was just turning 5 years old, we invited a few of her friends to Captains to make pizza for her birthday. Kostas took the time (and had the patience) to show them how. He was so kind and sweet and we will always cherish this memory of him
