Obituary For Maria P. Ditty
Maria P. (Bugl) Ditty, 94, of Peabody, died Friday morning at the Care One Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert A. Ditty, Sr.
Born in Straubing, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Franz and Maria (Scheitinger) Bugl. She was raised and educated in Germany and upon her marriage immigrated to the United States in 1956 and has been a resident of Peabody ever since.
While in Germany Maria did clerical work for a security firm and later worked in city hall in Straubing, Germany. She later worked at CBS Hytron as an inspector for three years, then Pequot Mills for a few more years and finally before retiring, she worked for Western Electric in North Andover as a board inspector for 30 years.
Maria enjoyed dancing with her husband, cooking, working in her garden and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed traveling in their motor home to Alaska, as well as visiting places throughout the United States and Europe, including the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, and spending as much time with them as possible.
Maria is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A Ditty, Jr and Susan of Lynn, David and Mary Ditty of Groveland, her daughter, Tina McCarthy of Peabody, and by her beloved grandchildren, James and Rebecca Vienneau, Robert A Ditty, III and his wife Kristen, David J Ditty, Andrea Ditty, Derek and Jennifer McCarthy, Jason McCarthy and Lindsey LeClair, her great grandchildren, Colin Burns, Aiden Lavin, Jamie Vienneau and Molly McCarthy. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa M Ditty, her son-in-law, David McCarthy, her brothers and sisters, Franz and Jacob Bugl, Maria Kohlrus, and Rose Bugl, and her granddaughter, Jill E Ditty.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Annβs Church, Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to St. Annβs Church, 140 Lynn St, Peabody.
