Mary Gladys Doucette, age 91, died peacefully Tuesday December 5, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Eva (Bourque) Doucette. She was educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1951. She continued her education at the Beverly School of Nursing and graduated in 1953. She was always caring for others while putting her own personal needs aside.

Her nursing career included the Lynn, Union, Beverly, and Salem Hospitals and her nursing skills allowed her to travel and work at the big city hospitals in New York, Florida, and California.

Always on the move, the weather did not stop Gladys from taking her daily drive around town and by the ocean. She was also an avid reader.

She was the sister of the late Marjorie Lenihan Wrigley, Doris Crowley, Ernest, Henry “Warren” and John “Lenny” Doucette. She is survived by her siblings, Richard Doucette and his wife Mary of Lynn, Donald Doucette and his wife Dianne of Florida, Shirley Bradley of Breckenridge, CO, June Tiernan and her husband Robert of Dedham, and Lorraine Atkins and her husband Richard of Lynn. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. in lieu of flowers, friends and family may do random acts of kindness in her name.
