Obituary For Renee Marie Hourican

Beverly - Renee Marie (Cashin) Hourican, 49, died peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 14, 1974 to Arthur Cashin and Lorraine (Mortellite) Cashin. Renee graduated from Revere High School and matriculated her master’s degree at Endicott College. She spent her career working with special needs clients and educating many of the area’s preschoolers, most recently at Trinity Church Preschool in Topsfield. She was a gifted and giving teacher, adored by students, staff and families. Ms. Renee will be profoundly and deeply missed.

Renee had a joy for life, whether riding an atv or jet ski or paddling a canoe or kayak. She loved the outdoors, especially at the family camp in Alton Bay, NH. She recently developed a flair for crafts, gifting many with her talents.

Always first for Renee came her dedication to her best friend and husband, Matty, and their much-adored children. She was loving and adventurous, kind, caring and supportive, feisty and not afraid to tell it like it is!

The past months showed Renee’s inherent strength, courage and tenacity as she stood up to an insidious opponent. She never faltered and continued to put her beloved husband and family first.

Renee included few in her circle but if you were in, you became cherished family members.

Renee leaves her devoted husband of twenty years, Matt “Matty” Hourican and their cherished children, amazing Nikolas “Nevaeh” and sweet Kali. She is also survived by her mother, Lorraine Cashin; her mother and father-in-law; Marilyn and Rich Osburn plus an extended family of siblings, nieces, nephews, a grandnephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who are family and wonderful ‘GO.’ Renee was predeceased by her father, Sgt Arthur Cashin, Chelsea PD, LODD 1980.

Renee received wonderful care and support from so many medical professionals, family, friends and neighbors, the community and so many others we cannot begin to name them all. We do extend our gratitude, appreciation and love to all who played a role no matter how small it was in providing Renee and her family with comfort.

A joyous celebration of life will be held on Renee’s 50th Birthday, March 14, 2024 from 4-8 PM at the Franco-American Club, 44 Park Street, Beverly. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Riley Rocks Foundation https://rileyrocks.org/donate/

We have so many beautiful memories of Renee, but the best of which revolve around how much Adeline and Ellison loved to see Renee in the backyard while we were playing on the swing set. Some core memories for both of them which will never be lost. We are so thankful for those moments, fleeting as they may have seemed. They meant so much.

I will never understand why life can be so unfair! One thing I know is God gained a beautiful caring and compassionate angel on Monday morning. Renee always had a smile on her face when we chatted no matter what was going on in her personal life. Whenever Al-pal would go over Kal-Pal's house for a playdate Renee was always so kind to her I knew my girl was safe and loved with Renee. Kali sweet girl if you are reading this please know I'm holding you extra tight in my thoughts and prayers and we are always here for you! I know you'll continue to make mom proud with all the great things you will to accomplish in the future! Thinking of you all ❤️Love the Preston's June, Bob, Ali (aka Al-Pal) and Danny

I knew this would one day arrive and regardless of all the prep time I had I am no way prepared. If anyone was to first, it was me. You were a lot things to me as I needed. You were an almost sister, good friend, and general pain in the ass when I needed someone to kick my ass back into fighting shape. We survived a lot, you and I, but unfortunately the mortality rate is still stuck at 0 so there isn't much we can do other than be the best Mother Hen we can be to our loved ones. As of late I've been an unsuccessful Mother Hen though I am doing my best... I love you Renée. More than you could ever have known.

We met in 1980 at the beginning of the school year. We became best friends, telling everyone we were cousins. We went to school together, played together, had sleepovers, many weekend trips to the lake, swimming and jet skiing. As we get older, so many things change in our lives, but my memories will remain. I'm sorry. Until we meet again.

My deepest condolences to Matt, Neveah & Kali. Renee was such a light in this world! I enjoyed our conversations whenever our kids would get together and cherish the memory of walking around Salem at Annie's scavenger hunt with Neveah. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy on her passing.
