Robert E. Kuver, 86, of Peabody, formerly of Stoughton, MA, Florida and New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Boston Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Green) Kuver of Peabody.

He was born in New York City on August 19, 1937 and was the cherished son of the late Herbert and Mildred (Steiniger) Kuver. For his first 13 years, Robert lived in the Queens suburb of the City. In 1950, the family moved to Eastern Long Island farm country. He graduated there from Riverhead High School in 1955 and went on to college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute enjoying his role in the RPI Glee Club as he earned a degree in Physics.

Robert graduated from RPI in 1959 and worked for Sperry Gyroscope Company as a Field Engineer supporting the new navigation computer system on the first Polaris Missile nuclear submarines. He played a key role for the Navy in stabilizing the Navigation Center including, as a civilian in the mid-1960’s, going on 12 sixty-day submarine patrols in the North Sea off Russia at the height of the Cold War.

In 1962, Robert married his first wife, Joan, and they had two children, Adam and Alan, while still living on Long Island. Eventually, he came on-shore for Sperry and became Manager of a logistics facility on the East Coast later on moving to Florida.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children, Adam Kuver and his wife Tracy of Bradford, Jodi Kenney and her husband Steven of Henderson, NV and Staci Groh and her husband Tim of Raynham; his grandchildren, Adam and his wife Carly, Haley, Rhian, Thomas, Danny, Anna-Cate, Patrick, Justin and Ava; his 3 great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Adam and Collins; his brother, Walter Kuver and his loving companion Barbara in Pahrump, NV; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sadly, in addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his son Alan Kuver and his second wife Polly Kuvar.

Visiting hours will be held at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, on Monday morning, September 18, 2023 from 10AM to 11AM, followed by his Funeral Service at 11AM in the funeral home.
