Peabody – Sevasti “Sevy” (Houvardas) Diacogeorge 91, beloved wife of the late John Diacogeorge, died Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Beverly Hospital.

Born and raised in Samos, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Nikolaos and Stamatia (Sarantou) Houvardas. She emigrated to the United States in 1969, settling in Peabody where she has since resided. She was a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody.

As a young woman, Sevy had been employed by the former Duchess Footwear Corporation in Salem and had also worked at the Century House Restaurant in Peabody.

“Yiayia” Sevi, as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called her, was an exceptional and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. When she immigrated from Samos Greece in 1969 with the love of her life and two children, she brought her vivacious and fiery character to Peabody, MA. She enveloped those she loved with the light and warmth of many suns, and was just as kind and giving to others, especially her neighbors. Sevi enjoyed bright red roses and tulips, listening to her great granddaughter play the piano and flute for her, and baking her delicious baklava and other sweets. She was stunning in all ways. She is irreplaceable. The beauty of her legacy will always live on.

She is survived by her daughter, Yiasemi Papanagiotu and her husband, John of Peabody, her son, Kostantino Diacogeorge of Samos, Greece, her daughter-in-law, Celia Diacogeorge of Peabody, four grandchildren, Argy Dobson and her husband, Jason of Peabody, Michael Papanagiotu of Lynn, Angela Papanagiotu of Peabody and Sevy Mulcahy and her husband, Steven of Peabody, three great grandchildren, Yanna Sevy Felismino, Mila Mulcahy and Michael Mulcahy, a brother, Vasilios Houvardas and his wife, Despina of Salem and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
