Peabody – Shirley E. (Hegyes) Becker, 77, died peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness.

Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy (LeBlanc) Hegyes. She received her education in the Lynn school system and graduated from Lynn English High School, class of 1964.

Ms. Becker had been employed for nineteen years as a concierge at Linden at Danvers Assisted Living, until the time of her illness. Prior to that, she had worked for many years in the credit office at Sears and Roebuck in Salem.

A long time resident of Peabody, Shirley had what she described as a "simple life" enjoying a good book, a cup of tea, or sitting by the ocean. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and brother. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving her are two daughters, Cheryl Girard and her husband, Charles of Elkland, MO and Karen Sharp of Lynn, former son-in-law, Brian Sharp of Peabody, four grandchildren, Joseph Girard, Kylie, Brian and Samantha Sharp, one brother, Michael Hegyes of Lynn and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Randall Hegyes and his wife, Claire and former wife of the late James Becker.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
