Obituary For Sotir Gjika
Sotir Gjika, 76, of Peabody, formerly of Fier, Albania, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Arsino (Kolici) Gjika with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
He was born in Fier, Albania on August 1, 1947 and was the cherished son of the late Lili and Pavlina (Kellciu) Gjika.
Sotir brought his family to the United States in Spring of 2000, through Albania’s lottery system. He left his job of 35 years working at the power plant and made the decision to leave everything he knew behind to provide his family an opportunity for a better life and future. Throughout the entirety of his life, Sotir was always providing for his family in any way he could and never got tired of it. He would fill any hours he was not working with outdoor activities including gardening, yard work, fruit cultivation and being with his family. Sotir’s two grandchildren, Austin and Avery were the world to him and he made it his priority to spend as much time with them as he could.
In addition to his wife, Arsino, Sotir is survived by his two sons, Ilir Gjika and his wife Enkeleida of Peabody and Ervis Gjika and his wife Ina of Peabody; his daughter, Lorena Sasso and her husband Evan of Peabody; his two grandchildren, Austin Gjika and Avery Sasso; his four sisters, Vasilika, Oli, Drita and Jorgjie; his brother, Llazi Gjika; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4PM to 7PM and again on Thursday morning from 11AM to 12PM before leaving in procession to Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody for his interment.
