Sister Ann Marie Connolly, SNDdeN, 89, went peacefully home to her good God on December 21, 2023, at St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich, MA. She was born in Boston to John and Mary Connolly. Sr. Ann Marie entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1952, making her First Vows in 1955 and Perpetual Vows in 1960.

Sr. Ann Marie graduated from Emmanuel College with a BA in Education and History. She taught at several Notre Dame elementary schools in the greater Boston area - in Lawrence, Waltham, Peabody, Dorchester, Somerville and Wellesley. She also taught at St. John/Ascension in Worcester and was principal at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted in Waltham. Teaching was pure joy for her, especially math.

Sr. Ann Marie semi-retired in 2008 and for many years lived at St. Jude’s in Waltham, helping in the school wherever there was a need. In 2019 she moved to Ipswich. She continued creating things. She sewed masks for the sisters during covid. She will be lovingly remembered for her positive personality and her happy greetings to all with whom she came in contact. She was a good friend to many.

She leaves her sister, Patricia of Milton, many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, her Sisters and Associates in the Notre Dame community, her many friends and the devoted staff of the St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center. Sr. Ann Marie was predeceased by her sisters, Sister Barbara Connolly, O.Carm, and Dorothy Stenstrom and her brother, John Connolly.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday January 4 at 10:30 am at Our Lady Queen Chapel in Ipswich, MA, preceded by a wake service at 9:00am in the chapel. Burial will be at a later date.
