Obituary For The Reverend Vincent Cornejo
The Reverend Vincent Cornejo, 94, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Naga, Philippines, he was the son of the late Meliton and Luisa (Concepcion) Cornejo.
Father Vincent was raised and educated in the Philippines, where he studied in the seminary and was ordained on March 17, 1956. He began his priesthood in the Philippines, and later moved to the Diocese of Metuchen in New Jersey where he ministered as a Parochial Vicar in parishes in Perth Amboy and North Plainfield. He was eventually assigned to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Woodbridge where he served as Administrator and then Pastor from 1992 until his retirement in 2004. Following his retirement, he moved to Peabody, MA., where he volunteered at Salem Hospital and other local churches for 10 years.
Father Vincent is survived by his sister, Sor. Dolores Cornejo, Daughters of Charity, Philippines; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother and six sisters.
Arrangements: Father Vincent’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody, 17 Chestnut St, Peabody, MA 01960, on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. At the request of the family, masks are required during visiting hours and Mass.
