Obituary For William F. L'Abbe

William “Bill” F. L’Abbe, 70, of Framingham, formerly of Peabody and Beverly, passed away peacefully at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice House in Wayland, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Kenny) L’Abbe with whom he spent 47 years of marriage.

He was born in Salem, MA on June 21, 1953, and was the cherished son of the late Rene and Dorothy (Hughes) L’Abbe.

Bill spent much of his work and family life on the North Shore before retiring and moving to Framingham, MA with his children and grandchildren.

He was a talented craftsman, his business and main medium was metal, but wood working sparked his creativity as well. Bill created numerous things over the years from iron fences and gates, to furniture, birdhouses, cider presses, and even to boats and kayaks. He would always “build it” rather than “buy it”.

He loved the water and going for boat rides, whether it be by sailboat, canoe, or kayak, he was happiest on the water. Bill loved to fish and was always on the lookout for a promising stream, pond, or inlet, but his family vacation spot, Thompson Lake in Maine, held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Bill is survived by his 2 daughters, Christina Morello, and Sandra L’Abbe and her wife Leslie LaFollette all of Framingham; his granddaughters, Mari and Addy Morello; his sister, Jude Farinelli and her husband Bill of Danvers; his brother, Ed L’Abbe and his wife Ginny of Peabody; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4PM to 7PM. At the family’s request please omit flowers. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence, 10 Green Way, Wayland, MA 01778. For guestbook and directions please visit www.ccbfuneral.com

We are so sorry to hear of Billy's passing! We had no idea! We talked to Billy a week or so before he passed, not knowing it would be our last time hearing his voice. He was a dear friend for decades and we will miss him immensely. Dan and Dyanne Crotty
